How are we here already? It feels like we blinked from opening weekend and now here is the last market weekend of 2026.
The last market of the year is special for a few reasons, one, it’s the holiday market, so along with all your season regular vendors we open up booth spaces to local artisans and small businesses to really fill up all of our market space. Two, the last market of the year’s hours extend from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Yes! 2 p.m.
Long before my farm was a vendor at the Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market, I always made a point to attend this particular market day, even when some years it was literally the only market day I was able to get to. I’ve always used this market to mark my “let’s get into the holiday spirit” weekend.
Now, as a vendor, it is still the weekend I use to mark as my shift into holly jolly mode. But what I’ve loved as a vendor is getting to experience this market for the festivities for the entirety of the event—particularly the music. Speaking of festivities, this year, for the first time, SANTA’S COMING! Santa will be walking around the market from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. available to chat and take photos.
Another exciting Holiday market development is our '“Back to Basics” farmers’ market cookbooks will be on display and available to purchase for the first time ever! Get a jump on your Christmas shopping with our cookbook, a gift certificate, stickers or Owensboro market apparel for the local farmers’ market enthusiast on your list.
Come to support your favorite small business, stock up on local produce, baked goods and meats but stay for the local holiday music. As mentioned above, this is my favorite part of this event. Guaranteed to grow even the Grinchiest of ‘we don’t celebrate Christmas before Thanksgiving’ Grinches hearts by three sizes.
